SİDE ANTİK TİYATROSU

Side Antik Tiyatrosu, Side Antik Kenti’nin yer aldığı yarımadanın daraldığı kesimde ve kentin merkezinde yer almaktadır. Tiyatronun Helenistik bir öncü yapısı olduğu halen kanıtlanabilmiş değildir. Roma Devri’nde yapı plan açısından Helenistik gelenekte yarım daireden taşan biçimde yapılmış olmasına karşın inşa tekniği açısından Roma mimarisi geleneğinde yapılmıştır. Caveanın (oturma sıraları) diazomaya (basamakların ortasındaki yol) kadar olan kısmı bir yamaca yaslanmış; üst kısım ise tonozlar üzerinde eğimli olarak şekillendirilmiş düzleme oturtulmuştur. Tiyatro bu özelliği ile Anadolu’nun tekil örneklerindendir. Sahne binası üç katlıdır. Süslemelerinde Antoninler Dönemi barok özelliği görülmektedir. Birinci katın podyumunda Dionysos Frizi yer alır. Frizde şarap tanrısı ve tiyatronun hâkimi Dionysos’un hayatı, batıdan doğuya doğru kronolojik olarak anlatılmakta ve doğu uçta Gigantomakhia ile sonuçlanmaktadır.

Side Antique Theater is located in the region where the peninsula where Side Antique City is located and in the center of the city. It has not been proven that the theater is a Hellenistic pioneer structure. Although the building was built in the Hellenistic tradition in the Roman Period, overflowing from the semicircle, it was built in the Roman architectural tradition in terms of construction technique. The part of the cavea (rows of seats) up to the diazoma (the path in the middle of the steps) rests on a slope; the upper part is placed on the inclined shaped plane on the vaults. Theater is one of the unique examples of Anatolia with this feature. The stage building has three floors. It is seen in the decorations of the Antonine Baroque feature.
